Where do you live?

New Zealand

How old are you?

16 years of age

Why do you write about music? (Any formal/informal practice of music? Music theory/study?)

I write about music because I love music—everything about music. When I write a review I feel that I am sharing something special with the artist in question. Reviewing also allows me to receive free CDs before they are released publicly and attend concerts for free.

What is your favorite genre(s) of music?

Anything that floats nonchalantly below the status quo. Often, mistakenly, called “Indie.”

Who is your favorite artist we have covered? Favorite artist/album you've written about for Groovemine?

I have enjoyed covering a range of artists for Groovemine. But my favourite would have to be Washed Out.

What are your favorite albums of 2010, so far, and why?

Foals - Total Life Forever: An excellent album that exceeded all expectations from this British indie outfit. Melodic, haunting and exceptional in every way.

Harlem - Hippies: The best lo-fi release of the year, if not the decade. Harlem encapsulate energy and a certain rawness that is unlike anything I have ever heard.

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti - Before Today: Ariel Pink is the definition of a post-modern rock-star. With a cult like following and an elusive persona, anything Pink would have released would have been embraced. But Before Today, not only satisfied Pink fans, but actually bridged the gap between lo-fi/alternative music and folks with less broad horizons. Before Today is the kind of record that will withstand the test of time and be remembered as a defining achievement for our era.

Tell us about your favorite live show?

Vampire Weekend. Enough said.

What was your favorite music growing up?

I will let you know when I have finished growing up...

What are your favorite music listening moments and/or environments? In other words, how do you like to listen to music?

In the dark, surrounded by candles and incense, with noise-canceling headphones on—completely lost in the sonic waves.

What media outlets do you turn to, other than Groovemine, to stay up on music?

Gorilla vs. Bear, The Quietus and VinylRecordFace.blogspot.com
